The receiver was laid in a drill press vise and a round bar was chucked in the drill press.

With the receiver resting on the drill press table, the front ring was slid to-and-fro in the vise until the bar was perpendicular to the underside of the tang. I'll try again- the amount of "tilt" was varied by sliding the drill press vise toward or away from the drill, until the round bar in the chuck was at right angles to the bottom of the tang. I used a small square, but a business card works as well (they are pretty square). Anyway, then I removed the bar (you could use a 1/2-inch or so drill bit instead of a round bar), and drilled a 4-40 tap hole using a #43 drill. The receiver drilled easy using a cheap Chinese bit and some cutting fluid.

The hole was tapped with a 4-40 tap. Ý Ý Ý

A stud, about 1 1/2-inch long was threaded into the hole and secured with a nut. If you got a little close to the spring/sear, try making sure that a nut flat (there are six of them) is parallel to the end of the spring, and CAREFULLY grind a little off of the end of the spring. Notice that the stud and rear action screw are parallel, that's good!
