Neatening-Up a Model 1922

Index Page

I am putting this up mostly to show how to replace the sights on a Mauser, but I've included the other work as well.

A few years ago Reese Surplus, Inc. imported a bunch of Mausers from Brazil, mostly Model 1908, but some Model 1922. These started out as 7 x 57's, and most stayed that way, but some were converted to 30-06 and 308. Along the way, Reese also imported some replacement barrels, also from Brazil.

The Mod.1922 has an "intermediate" length action, and the one I bought was in very poor condition. (To be fair to RSI, they described it that way), but I had purchased a "new" 7 x 57 barrel, and since the action wouldn't fit into a replacement stock, I decided to "restore" it. I hate to use the word "restore" since the original series was blued/blackened and I intended to paint it, so lets just say "neaten-up".
