It is intended to be used in competition, or in Bench/Varmit shooting, when the shooter wants to minimize movement. You just extend your trigger finger and push.

To quote from Brownells " Lets you close the bolt without shifting firing position; gives match and tactical shooters faster reloads. One-piece unit clamps over factory release, extends the release down, to be just opposite your trigger finger. Original bolt release remains operational; locks the bolt open in the normal manner. The lower hole is tapped, and will accept a 8x32 Nylon socket head cap screw (included but not shown, yet!). This screw allows shooters with short fingers to just push on the screw head, and allows custom adjustment of length.

This is an improved design, with a VERY slender backside at the place that could interfere with the upper receiver. The extension is machined from bar-stock and then Hard Anodized - NOT Painted - and colored. How To Order
